Pickleball

  1. 1.      DEFINITION

    Club’ means the Sarawak Club

    “Club Rules” means the Rules of the Club.

    “SST” means Sales and Service Tax.

     

    2.      RULES OF PICKLEBALL

    The rules as approved by the USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) shall apply at the Club.

     

    3.      OPERATING HOURS AND USE OF COURT

    1.      The pickleball courts are open for use from 8.00am to 10.00pm.

    2.      The pickleball courts are only to be used for pickleball.

     

    4.      COURT ALLOCATION

    The schedule of use of the pickleball courts is as follows:

    5.      BOOKING AND CANCELLATION OF FREE COURTS AND CHARGEABLE COURTS

    1. Booking of Free and Chargeable courts is strictly through the Club’s App.
    2. Booking of Free and Chargeable courts can be made up to one (1) day in advance on a first-come-first-served basis.
    3. Free court may be booked for a maximum of 1 hour.
    4. Chargeable court may be booked for a maximum of 2 hours. The fee is RM10.00+SST per hour per court.
    5. Members who fail to show up for their Chargeable court booking will still be charged the full fee of the booking.
    6. Members who fail to show up for their Free court booking will be charged the equivalent fee of a Chargeable Court.
    7. Any cancellation must be communicated to the Sports Counter with at least 4 hours’ notice before the start of the booking.
    8. In instances of rain before the start of the booking or within the first ½ hour of the booking, the booking will automatically be deemed as cancelled by the Management. The chargeable court fee will not be imposed.
    9. If the member reserving the court does not occupy it within 10 minutes after the time stated in the booking register, the member will still be charged but the court may be used by other members subject to paying the applicable fee.

     

    6.      SOCIAL SESSION

    1. Social session is for members only. No guests allowed.
    2. Associate Child Members are not permitted on court from Monday to Friday, 5.00pm to 8.00pm.
    3. The social session is free to play.
    4. Social session play is by rotation. Players must vacate after the completion of each game of 11 points based on the 002 classic points scoring.
    5. Members waiting to play are required to queue for their turn by placing their paddle in the paddle rack. Only 1 paddle per player; double paddles are not allowed.
    6. The first 4 waiting in the queue will proceed to the first vacant court; the next 4 waiting will proceed to the next vacant court, and so on.
    7. Players leaving the court may rejoin the queue by placing their paddles in the paddle holder.

     

    7.      Junior members and associate child members

    1. Associate Child Members are not permitted on court from Monday to Friday, 5.00pm to 8.00pm.
    2. Junior Members and Associate Child Members are not allowed to introduce guests.

     

    8.      GUESTS

    1. Members may introduce guests to play except on Social sessions.
    2. Each member may introduce a maximum of 3 guests per day.
    3. A guest fee of RM30.00+SST per guest per day will be charged to the member.
    4. The Member shall sign-in their guests at the Reception Counter before commencing with play.
    5. After signing-in, each guest will be issued with a Guest Introduction Card. The guests will be required to produce the card if/when being inspected by Club staff.
    6. If the member fails to sign-in their guest before playing, a penalty of double the guest fee for each guest will be charged to the Member.
    7. Members shall be responsible for their guests, to ensure that they observe the Club Rules and Bye-laws.
    8. Junior Members and Associate Child Members are not allowed to introduce guests.

     

    9.            LIABILITY FOR INJURY

    The Club shall not be liable to any member and / or his guests for any accident or injury sustained on the pickleball courts.

     

    10.    ATTIRE

    1.      All players shall be properly attired while on the court.

    2.      Only non-marking court shoes permitted on court.

     

    1.      FOOD AND BEVERAGE

    1. Water bottles may be brought in to the court.
    2. Food is not permitted in the courts.

     

    12.         DAMAGE TO COURT

    Any damage caused to the pickleball court or any part thereof by any member or his / her guests shall be made good by that member paying to the Club the cost of repairing the said damage.

     

    13.         OFFENDERS

    1.      A fine of RM50.00+SST shall be imposed on the first offence on any member who or whose guest breaches any of the bye-laws.

    2.      For the second and subsequent offence, a fine of RM100.00+SST shall be imposed.

    3.      The Management reserves the right to suspend any habitual offender from the pickleball courts for a period not exceeding 6 months.

     

    14.    COURTS FOR CLUB ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS

    The Management Committee reserves the right to reserve any or all of the Pickleball courts for the purpose of resident coaching, holding competitions, friendly matches between the club and other organizations, exhibitions matches and any other activity as the Committee may deem fit.

     

    15.         AMENDMENTS TO BYE-LAWS

    The Management committee may from time to time, add to, alter and repeal Bye-laws for the regulation of the affairs of the club. Such Bye-laws so made, added to, altered or repealed shall come into operation and binding on members after they have been posted in the Club premises for fifteen days.
