Squash

  1. 1.       DEFINITION

    Club’ means The Sarawak Club.

    “SST” means Sales and Service Tax.

     

    2.       RULES OF SQUASH

    Rules of the International Singles Game of Squash Rackets as adopted by ‘Persatuan Squash Sarawak’ shall apply to all games.

     

    3.      OPERATING HOURS AND USE OF COURT

    1.      The squash courts are open for use between 8.00am to 10.00pm.

    2.      The squash courts are only to be used for squash.

     

    4.      COURT ALLOCATION

    The schedule of use of the squash courts is as follows:

    BOOKING AND CANCELLATION OF SQUASH COURTS (FREE COURTS & CHARGEABLE COURTS)

    1. Booking of courts is strictly through the Club’s App.
    2. Bookings for Free Courts and Chargeable Courts can be made up to one (1) day in advance on a first-come-first-served basis.
    3. Free Court session may be booked by members for a maximum of 1 hour.
    4. Chargeable Court session may be booked by members for a maximum of 2 hours. The fee for chargeable courts is RM2.50+SST per ½ hour per court.
    5. Members who fail to show up for their Chargeable Court booking will still be charged the full fee of the booking.
    6. Members who fail to show up for their Free Court booking will be charged the equivalent fee of a Chargeable Court.
    7. Any cancellation must be communicated to the Sports Counter with at least 4 hours’ notice before the start of the booking.
    8. If the member reserving the court does not occupy it within ten (10) minutes after the time stated in the booking register, the member will still be charged but the court may be used by other members subject to paying the applicable fee.

     

    6.      Junior members and associate child members

    1. Junior Members and Associate Child Members may play on Free Courts and Chargeable Courts.
    2. Junior Members and Associate Child Members are not allowed to introduce guests.

     

     

    7.      GUESTS

    1. Members may introduce guests to play.
    2. Each member may introduce a maximum of 3 guests per day.
    3. A guest fee of RM30.00+SST per guest per day will be charged to the member.
    4. The Member shall sign-in their guests at the Reception Counter before commencing with play.
    5. After signing-in, each guest will be issued with a Guest Introduction Card. The guests will be required to produce the card if/when being inspected by Club staff.
    6. If the member fails to sign-in their guest before playing, a penalty of double the guest fee for each guest will be charged to the Member.
    7. Members shall be responsible for their guests, to ensure that they observe the Club Rules and Bye-laws.
    8. Junior Members and Associate Child Members are not allowed to introduce guests.

     

    8.            LIABILITY FOR INJURY

    The Club shall not be liable to any member and / or his guests for any accident or injury sustained on the squash courts.

     

    9.      ATTIRE

    1.      All players shall be properly attired while on the court.

    2.      Only non-marking court shoes permitted on court.

     

    10.  EQUIPMENT

    1.      Players are required to provide their own rackets and balls.

    2.      Aluminum or steel framed rackets are not allowed to be used in the courts.

     

    11.         FOOD AND BEVERAGE

    Food and drinks are not permitted in the courts.

     

    12.         DAMAGE TO COURT

    Any damage caused to the squash court or any part thereof by any member or his / her guests shall be made good by that member paying to the Club the cost of repairing the said damage.

     

    13.         OFFENDERS

    1.      A fine of RM50.00+SST shall be imposed on the first offence on any member who or whose guest breaches any of the bye-laws.

    2.      For the second and subsequent offence, a fine of RM100.00+SST shall be imposed.

    3.      The Management reserves the right to suspend any habitual offender from the squash courts for a period not exceeding 6 months.

     

    14.    COURTS FOR CLUB ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS

    The Management Committee reserves the right to reserve any or all of the squash courts for the purpose of resident coaching, holding competitions, friendly matches between the club and other organizations, exhibitions matches and any other activity as the Committee may deem fit.

     

    15.         AMENDMENTS TO BYE-LAWS

    The Management committee may from time to time, add to, alter and repeal Bye-laws for the regulation of the affairs of the club. Such Bye-laws so made, added to, altered or repealed shall come into operation and binding on members after they have been posted in the Club premises for fifteen days.
